Teleconfernce services via Internet (Web-Conference) can support education between far-end sites of participants choice, with elementary computer skills, using video, audio, text based on Internet comunication platform.

ASPETE allocates the BigBlueButton platform (open source). This platform functions as pilot in the Laboratory of Computer Networks of Teachers of Electronics Department, in order to covers educational aims of the lessons and other extraordinary teleconference needs. The application provides a completed environment of distance education and collaboration via the Internet, in real time using simply computer and a Web Browser.

Moreover ASPETE allocates access in the open software for teleconference (web-conference) that provides the GUNET in its members (http://webconf.gunet.gr/webconf/).

Asynchronous distance-learning services are offered by the ASPETE's Open eClass platform which supports the organization and management of courses using Internet tools.
The platform may also be used as a supplement to face-to-face instruction that supports course management and interaction among the members of a class by facilitating
• the provision of digital educational material
• uploading of announcements and its automatic forwarding via email
• the electronic submission of student projects within specific deadlines
• the organization and management of fora
• the organization of student work teams
• the organization and management of synchronous conversation (chat) and wiki
• the provision of course information and the creation of an agenda
• the provision of useful links
• the provision of automatic or non-automatic evaluation exercises

Basic characteristics of eClass platform are:

distinguishe role of users such as:
-  The user-instructor is person in charge for the creation and management of his electronic courses. His account provided by the eClass platform administrator .
-  The user-student can be registered in each course that is allowed to have access from the creator-instructor.His account is created automatically by the platform after his electronic registration at eClass platform.
    distinguish categories of courses:
Open courses are the courses of free access from all even without they allocate account in the platform.
Openly in registration are the courses in which user-student can have access only if allocates account in the platform and registers himself in the course. Also alternative the responsible instructor can fix a password for accessing the course .
Closed courses are the courses in which a user that has account in the platform has access only if he is allowed by the responsible instructor.

Synchronous distance-learning and teleconference services are available to the members of educational and administrative staff of ASPETE.
To organize a distance-learning or teleconference session, please contact Mr. L. Seratziotis (tel. +30.210-2896722, e-mail: This email address is being protected from spambots. Synchronous distance-learning allows real-time two-ways audiovisual communication among individuals at different distant sites by employing properly interconnected audiovisual equipment.
ASPETE offers synchronous distance-learning services through properly equipped, H.320/H.323 distance-learning rooms situated in ASPETE’s central premises (Athens) and ASPETE’s Branches  (Thessaloniki, Patra, Volos, Ioannina, Heraklion/Crete, Sapes) as well as by supporting web-based videoconference either by means of the open Teleconference software provided by the Greek University Network (GUNET) or the teleconference services provided by the Greek Research & Technology Network (GRNET).
      -  The central distance-learning room (situated in Athens and fully equipped according to the ITU H.320/H.323 rec.) is an accredited node of the overall distance-learning-rooms network forhigher education, supported by the Greek University Network (GUNET). In addition, the central distance-learning system can be interconnected to the Greek Research & Technology Network GRNET) by using the teleconference services supported by the GRNET.
      -   Web-based distance-learning is capable of supporting education from a distant site (according to the participants’ choice) and facilitates class management and interaction among members by simulating functions that conventionally take place in actual rooms. This approach requires minimum computational skills, practically the use of a specific synchronous distance-learning environment and video/audio-and-text communicating by means of computer.
Possible synchronous distance-learning scenaria could be:
     • Course implementation through distance-learning together with other higher education establishments from Greece or abroad.
     • Attending and participating in lectures or seminars from a distance.
     • Teleconferences for educational and/or administrative purposes (e.g. electorates)
